LORD'S DAY

We Worship the Triune God According to His Word

reverent

We come together as the covenant people of God to worship him with reverence and awe (cf. Heb. 12:28-29). It is a dialogue in which God speaks to His people through His Word and Sacraments, and we respond in prayer, confession, and song.

Christ-centered

We preach Christ in all of Scriptures because, following Christ’s example in Luke 24:27, He is found and preached from every text of the Bible: beginning with Moses, and all the Prophets, in all Scriptures ( i.e., from Genesis to Revelation).

historical

We believe the teaching of the Bible is faithfully summarized in the ecumenical creeds and our Reformed Confessions. We worship together as a congregation that incorporates the creeds and confessions into the life of the Church and the believer.

biblical

Our worship is regulated by what Scripture commands — we read it, preach it, sing it, pray it, and, in the sacraments, we see it. At the heart of our view of the Bible is the belief that God has spoken His Word to all humanity in His law and His gospel and that Jesus Himself is that Word. Both the Old and New Testaments contain this Word (Romans 15:4, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, Hebrews 1:1-3) and we look to Scripture as the only rule for faith and practice.

liturgical

Our worship service is liturgical, the elements of which include:

  • Call to Worship (a Psalm),  Invocation, God’s Greeting, Psalm of Praise
  • Reading of God’s Law, Prayer of Confession, Assurance of Forgiveness, and The Creed
  • Pastoral Prayer to be concluded with the Lord’s Prayer, Reading of Scripture, Sermon
  • The Lord’s Supper, Hymn of Response, Benediction and Doxology

sacramental

We regularly and eagerly administer the two sacraments that Christ instituted, Baptism and the Lord’s Supper, which is the sign and seal of the covenant, and the visible gospel that confirms God’s promises in the preached Word. Typically, we celebrate the Lord’s Supper every week.

Death

Ephesians 2:1-3
And you were dead in the trespasses and sin in which you once walked...

Deliverance

Colossians 1:13
He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son

Devotion

Acts 2:42-47
And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.
